These men overcame obstacles to rise above adversity to serve humanity.

“The world of humanity is like unto a rose garden and the various races, tongues and people are like unto contrasting flowers. The diversity of colors in a rose-garden add to the charm and beauty of the scene as variety enhances unity.”

Abdu'l-Bahá

Louis was born in 1874 of the first generation born of his race to be born free. He rose from humble circumstances in Reconstruction-era South Carolina to national and international prominence as a teacher and administrator of the Baha’i Faith and a champion of interracial unity. He got his degree as an attorney and traveled the world teaching about racial unity embracing these teachings of the Baha’i Faith - in that we are all one.

“This Most Great Reconstruction which the majestic Revelation of Baha’u’llah brings to view, is not black or white or yellow or brown or red, yet all of these. It is the power of divine outpourings and endless perfections for mankind.” Louis G. Gregory

Inspiring people

Like so many men of his generation raised in harsh circumstances closing themselves off because of traumatic events - yet, he rose above it all finding a calling, a lasting love and a Faith that gave him passion and purpose. He along with his wife raised three children, gained a Master’s degree to support his family and went to live abroad to pioneer for his beloved Baha’i Faith. He has written many articles, incredibly inspiring books and given talks around the world. He may not think he has done enough but to me and many others - he is an inspiration and motivation for us all to better ourselves and live with utmost dignity. He is deeply insightful, spiritual, loving, kind, extremely honest, loves nature and kind. He is also my Father. 💜
